2010 marks one of the biggest upgrades in the annual Bicycle Log to-date. The Daily Log has been completely reformatted after listening to users of the Bicycle Log on what was important to them and what might make it easier to use.  Let us know what you think of the changes.

This year, the 2010 Mileage Log consists of two “tabs” or spreadsheets – the first tab called “2010 Log” looks just like previous years and works basically the same except for one big change.  Now you will be entering your daily mileage on the second tab called the “Daily Log.”  The Daily Log will total your weekly mileage and transfers those totals to your 2010 Log for you.  Simply scroll down during the year to the following months and let the 2010 Log complete all the calculations as before.  The Daily Log tab still has spaces for you to enter additional information, if desired, for you to makes notes of interest to you about that ride.

As with our previous bike logs, you can still track your weekly cycling mileage throughout the year with monthly and yearly cumulative mileage totals, weekly averages for each month and monthly averages throughout the year.  A bar chart automatically displays your week's riding accomplishments, too.

Our bicycles need attention and care just like our cars.  So the 2010 Log has a line for recording preset abbreviations for those routine maintenance needs.  Or you can make your own abbreviations to monitor your bike's maintenance and service throughout the year.  How often you need to have your bicycle serviced depends on how hard you ride and the weather conditions you've been riding (or get caught) in.

You may also use the 2010 Log to set monthly and annual mileage goals to monitor your progress through the year.  Your goals can be easily adjusted if you've aimed too low or too high.  Just be sure to challenge yourself. The goals have been preset this year for a year-long 2,500 miles, but these are easily changed to meet your ambitions.
