SPECIAL NOTE: This year we are featuring Special Interest Tables during the Mixer where you can learn more about cycling topics, such as local group rides, RAGBRAI, racing teams, cross-country touring, European rides, cyclocross and winter riding tips.
PROPOSED SLATE OF 2012 JCBC BOARD MEMBERS
Every year at the annual banquet, JCBC elects its new board of directors for that year. JCBC is currently in the process of merging into the new metro-wide club Kansas City Metro Bicycle Club with KCBC, and we expect the merger to be complete sometime in the spring of 2012. Until that time, JCBC will continue to be run by its own board of directors, which must be elected at the annual banquet. The board’s proposed slate (below), is a continuation of the current board of directors. As always, there is much work to do and any JCBC member interested in working with the board or joining the board is encouraged to contact a board member.

JOIN US IN WASHINGTON DC THIS MARCH
League of American Bicyclists National Bike Summit
Here is an opportunity for JCBC members to attend the League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike Summit in Washington, DC. JCBC is sponsoring two registrations ($600 and registration) for the three-day event being held this year March 8th through the 10th. Attendees will be responsible for their own travel, food and lodging expenses.
If you are interested, contact Doug Polson at 913-636-8871 immediately as March will be here before you know it. March is a busy time of the year in Washington. You will want to make hotel reservations and book air fare as soon as possible. Please check out all the details at the League’s website www.bikeleague.org or by calling 202-882-1333. We are looking for first time attendees, Kansas Residents.
Why should you go? Besides being a great city to visit, this is a chance to exercise your right to lobby Congress on your concerns for the future of bicycling in the United States. We need you to join with us as we stand up for Safe Routes to School for our children and safer public roads for adults. Join the League as we build new relationships in Congress and strengthen old ones. We are honing our message to explain the importance of bicycling to help meet our nation’s goals, such as economic development, health, the environment and transportation. Check the League’s website for more details and coming webinars to give you the information you will need to be an effective advocate. Also on the website is a list of recommended Washington hotels.
